Ethridge Quinn Co-Sponsors Committee for Montgomery’s Legislative Breakfast

Ethridge, Quinn, Kemp, Rowan & Hartinger once again co-sponsored the Committee for Montgomery’s annual Legislative Breakfast this year.  Each year the Breakfast brings together elected officials from Montgomery County, the state legislative delegation, members of the County Council, the County Chief Executive, and members of the community representing interests of business, labor, education, and civic and community-based organizations.  The Breakfast is seen as a kick-off to the Maryland Legislative Session that begins each January.

The Breakfast this year, held virtually on Friday, December 11, addressed the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on the US population, the economy and how state and federal governments can better prepare for a future pandemic. The speakers included

Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-Md); Congressman Jamie Raskin (D-Md); Former Lt. Governor and MSNBC Commentator, Michael Steele; Megan Ranney, MD, Emergency Physician, Researcher and National Advocate for Innovative Approaches to Public Health; and Brian Rosen, Senior Vice President, Commercial Strategy for Novavax, a Biotechnology company with its headquarters in Gaithersburg, MD.

The speakers also focused on the medical profession’s efforts to contain the disease and looked ahead to the importance of emerging vaccines, including a brief discussion of the promising trials for a drug developed by Novavax.

In addition to the speakers, virtual break out rooms were available for participants before and after the main event for networking and discussion.

The 2020 Breakfast, like so many parts of our lives now, faced a number of obstacles, but produced a successful event, providing a positive outlook for Montgomery County, and Maryland moving forward into 2021.  Including members of Ethridge Quinn, the Breakfast was attended by 470 individuals. Ethridge Quinn was happy to again support Committee for Montgomery and the participation of our partner Tim Price on Committee for Montgomery’s Executive Committee.
